Using a Joystick/Gamepad at RobertsArcade.com

A joystick to keyboard emulator can be used when you want to control an application with a joystick but the application doesn't support joystick input. The emulator is a software designed to convert the input from the buttons on your joystick/gamepad into keyboard or mouse input (depending on how you set the emulator software up to work) so that you could, for example, use a flashy Logitech Gamepad to play the games here at RobertsArcade.com. Here's a couple emulators that I found online but they have NOT been tested or verified. Please use at your own risk!

JoytoKey
A Joystick Emulator on the Windows/DOS platform
http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyTo...h%20Version.htm

JoystickCursorTool
A small utility simulating keyboard keys using a joystick.
http://www.deinmeister.de/jct_e.htm

Tutorial: Convert Flash Games

Tutorial: Convert Flash Games
Here's a simple tutorial about how to convert flash games to work with this website.

1. You'll first need a software that allows you to edit Flash .SWF files. If you don't have one, you can aquire a free 30 day trial of SWF Quicker:

http://www.sothink.com/product/swfquicker/

2. Find a good game to convert. It's best to only use games that are released as "free to use on any website."

3. Open SWF Quicker, click Import, and import the games Flash .SWF file.

4. Click the Movie Explorer tab at the right hand side and type "gscore". Next, delete the code in the Action tab and replace it with this code:

CODE

on (release)
{
var gname = "gname";
var gscore = _root.score;
getURL("index.php?act=Arcade&do=newscore", "_self", "POST");
}

*** Change "gname" in the above code example to a unique name for the game. Use lowercase letters and only alphanumeric characters. Examples: "robsgamename" or "jacksbingo" or "agreatpokergamev2" etc.. Every game in the arcade needs to have a unique gname.

5. Save your file.

That completes the game conversion!

Now simply attach your edited game file to a PM and send it to me along with:
- Game Title
- Game Description
- gname
- Game Dimensions (in pixels)
- Image for Game (jpg or gif)

Your newly created game will then be added to the arcade for everyone to enjoy.
